Β π Hello, September!
School may be back, but kids certainly didn't leave all that energy at summer vacation. π
September is a fantastic month to get outside, enjoy cooler mornings and evenings, explore the neighborhood and build movement into everyday family life.
Keep Them Moving isn't about workouts, calories or being the fastest kid on the playground. It's about helping kids discover that moving their bodies can be FUN.
Every day this month brings a different little challenge. Some take five minutes. Some can become an entire family adventure. Most require little or no equipment, and almost everything can be adjusted for different ages and abilities.
Ready?

Keep score if your family enjoys competition, or forget the points entirely and just be ridiculous together.
Colorado weather doesn't always cooperate, so keep these in your back pocket:
The Floor Is Lava β’ Hallway Bowling β’ Simon Says β’ Dance Party β’ Balloon Volleyball β’ Indoor Scavenger Hunt β’ Yoga β’ Follow the Leader β’ Sock Basketball β’ Indoor Obstacle Course
Ten minutes counts.
You don't need an elaborate activity every day.
Some kids love organized sports.
Some would rather climb a tree.
Some love dancing.
Some love hiking.
Some want to ride a bike, swim, jump on a trampoline or chase bubbles around the backyard.
It all counts.
The goal isn't to create tiny professional athletes. It's to help kids find ways of moving that make them think:
βCan we do that again?β
That's the sweet spot. π
Thirty days later, hopefully we've burned some wiggles, discovered a new favorite park, taken a few family walks and had at least one grown adult hopping around the living room pretending to be a frog. π
Movement doesn't have to be complicated, expensive or scheduled.
Walk. Run. Wiggle. Dance. Climb. Explore. PLAY.
Ten minutes here and twenty minutes there add up, and even better, those little bursts of movement can become some pretty fantastic family memories.
So when September ends, don't stop.
October has trails to explore, leaves to crunch, pumpkins to carry and plenty more reasons to Keep Them Moving! ππ
