Thereβs something about September that makes me want all the apple things. Apple cider, apple pie, caramel apples... give me all of it. ππ
But traditional caramel apples can be a whole production, especially with kids. Theyβre sticky, hard to bite into, and somehow caramel ends up in places caramel has absolutely no business being.
Enter: Caramel Apple Nachos. π
They have all the deliciousness of a caramel apple, but theyβre easier to make, easier to eat, and WAY more fun to customize. Even better, you can have a whole platter ready in about 10 minutes.
For the apples:
3β4 apples, any variety you love
About Β½ cup caramel sauce
ΒΌ cup chocolate chips, melted
Now for the FUN part, the toppings! Pick a few favorites:
Mini chocolate chips
Chopped pecans or peanuts
Toffee bits
Crushed pretzels
Mini marshmallows
Crushed graham crackers
Sprinkles
M&M's
Granola
Shredded coconut
Cinnamon sugar
Melted peanut butter
White chocolate drizzle
There are no nacho police here. Use what your family loves! π
1. Slice the apples.
Wash and cut your apples into thin wedges. Remove the seeds and core.
2. Build your platter.
Spread the apple slices across a large plate or serving board. Overlapping them a little makes them look extra fancy with absolutely no extra effort. We love that. π
3. Bring on the caramel.
Warm your caramel sauce slightly if needed and drizzle it generously over the apples.
4. Add the chocolate.
Melt the chocolate chips and drizzle that goodness right over the top.
5. Go topping crazy!
Sprinkle on your family's favorites and serve immediately.
That's it!
Ten minutes and you've created something that looks like you had an actual plan. π

𧑠An easy dessert when you just want something FUN
Kids get to create their own masterpiece, and you don't have to remember who hates nuts, who wants extra chocolate, and who has suddenly decided caramel is βweird.β
Everyone wins.
If you're making your platter ahead of time, apple slices can start turning brown.
Toss them lightly with a little lemon juice, then pat them dry before assembling your nachos. Don't soak them or you'll end up with lemon-flavored caramel apples, which was definitely not the assignment. π
For the best texture, though, I recommend slicing and assembling them shortly before serving.

Sometimes the smallest things become the things kids remember.
