A frightfully fun Halloween dinner that's quick, easy, and guaranteed to get a few giggles around the table!
It's October. The kids are excited about Halloween, the costumes are probably still missing a few pieces, and somehow everyone expects dinner to magically appear on the table. Again. Every. Single. Night. π
Well, grab your mini bagels, because tonight we're turning an ordinary dinner into something a little more spooktacular!
These adorable Mummy Pizza Bagels are cheesy, delicious, ridiculously easy to make, and almost too cute to eat. Almost. Because let's be serious, melted mozzarella and pizza sauce don't stand a chance in my house!
Even better? They're ready in about 15 minutes, making them perfect for busy school nights, Halloween parties, or those evenings when your motivation to cook has mysteriously disappeared. π»
Servings: 4 (8 mini bagel pizzas)
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 8β10 minutes
Total Time: Approximately 15 minutes
4 mini bagels, sliced in half
Β½ cup pizza sauce
4 mozzarella string cheese sticks (or sliced mozzarella)
8 black olives, sliced into rings
Optional: Mini pepperoni, Italian seasoning, or your family's favorite pizza toppings
Step 1: Preheat Your Oven
Preheat your oven to 375Β°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: Get Saucy!
Place your mini bagel halves cut-side up on the baking sheet. Spread a spoonful of pizza sauce over each one.
Step 3: Wrap Those Mummies!
Pull apart your mozzarella string cheese into thin strips. Arrange the strips across each bagel in a crisscross pattern, leaving a little space for your mummy's eyes.
Don't worry about making them perfect. These mummies have been wrapped up for thousands of years. They're allowed to look a little messy! π
Step 4: Give Them Eyes! π
Place two black olive rings on each bagel to create those adorable little mummy eyes.
Step 5: Bake Until Boo-tiful!
Bake for approximately 8β10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the bagels are lightly toasted.
Let them cool for a minute or two before serving.
Step 6: Let the Mummy Munching Begin!
Serve warm with fresh fruit, veggie sticks, or a spooky Halloween-themed side dish.
π Let the kids create their own! Set out the ingredients and let everyone build a mummy. Little hands can help spread sauce, arrange cheese, and add olive eyes.
π§ Not an olive fan? Use tiny pieces of pepperoni or bell pepper for the eyes instead.
π Make them your own! Sneak a few mini pepperonis or finely chopped vegetables underneath the cheese bandages.
π» Throwing a Halloween party? Make a whole tray of mummy bagels for an easy party snack. They're cute enough for a Halloween buffet without requiring hours in the kitchen.
β° Save time! Slice your bagels and prep the toppings ahead of time. Store them separately in the refrigerator until you're ready to assemble.
Besides the obvious fact that these little mummies are absolutely adorable, there's a lot to love about this recipe.
It's budget-friendly, uses just a handful of ingredients, and gets dinner on the table without destroying the kitchen.
It's also a wonderful opportunity to get kids involved in cooking. They can practice spreading, arranging, counting ingredients, and following directions while creating something they're excited to eat.
And sometimes, that's what family fun is all about. It doesn't have to involve an expensive outing, an elaborate project, or an entire afternoon of planning.
Sometimes it's just sitting around the kitchen table, laughing at a pizza bagel that looks like it has googly eyes.
Those little moments count, too. π
